The Calf Branders got their start in 1990 when Lance Romance Bakemeyer had Calf Branding parties at the family ranch in Parker CO. As is typical in ranching communities, Ranchers would invite their friends and neighbors to help with branding the new crop of beef cattle. After the branding is done, the Rancher will throw a party for the "hired help". (Usually with a live band to provide entertainment). The Calf Branders were born out of this western tradition.

The Calf Branders are made up of the best "Outlaw Country" musicians from Colorado during the 1990's and 2000's. Lance Romance Bakemeyer was the co-founder of the Hillbilly Hellcats. Tony "Nascar" plays with the Railbenders. Christian Dulin and Buddy Gould also had a long history of playing in Honky Tonk, Outlaw Country and "Cowboy" bands in Colorado. All the Calf Branders write songs and all the members sing.

The Calf Branders released two full length CD's of mostly original music in 2005 and 2009. Since then, the Calf Branders have released original singles in 2018 and 2019. Almost all of the Calf Branders music has been used in TV and some movies.
